Bottle unscramblers are key pieces of equipment on automated packaging production lines. Their core function is to automatically organize randomly stacked plastic or glass bottles into a uniform orientation (usually with the bottle neck facing upwards) and transport them orderly to subsequent processes such as filling and labeling. They are often referred to as the "traffic controllers" of the production line. Based on their working principles, they are mainly divided into centrifugal, friction, gravity, and buoyancy types. Centrifugal bottle unscramblers are the most widely used, utilizing the centrifugal force generated by a high-speed turntable in conjunction with a track structure to straighten the bottles. They operate stably and are suitable for most standard bottle types. Friction unscramblers achieve high-speed orientation through belt friction, making them suitable for production lines with extremely high speed requirements. Gravity unscramblers use the difference in the bottle's center of gravity to complete the tilting process and are mostly used for glass bottles. Floating unscramblers use the buoyancy of water for orientation, causing less damage to the bottles, and are commonly used in industries such as beer bottle recycling.
A typical centrifugal bottle unscrambler mainly consists of a lifting mechanism, a bottle unscrambler turntable, paddle wheels, a bottle tilting mechanism, and a bottle discharging mechanism. The lifting mechanism feeds bottles from the hopper into the turntable at a uniform speed. The high-speed rotation of the turntable disperses the bottles and pushes them towards the edge. Webbed wheels remove improperly positioned bottles, while a bottle-turning mechanism ensures all bottles are output with their openings facing upwards. Finally, a clamping belt smoothly transports the sorted bottles to the next process. The entire mechanism works in tandem, achieving fully automated sorting of bottles from scattered to neat.
Today's bottle unscramblers are deeply integrated with intelligent technologies, commonly using PLCs and touchscreens for parameter storage and one-click model changes. They also integrate photoelectric sensors and AI vision systems to detect and reject inverted, reversed, and defective bottles online. High-end models can also interface with factory MES systems to meet the data traceability and remote management needs of Industry 4.0. To meet GMP cleanroom requirements, the machine body is mostly made of 304 or 316 stainless steel, and some machines are also equipped with electrostatic dust removal and noise reduction technologies. In terms of parameters, the bottle handling speed is typically 60 to 1200 bottles/minute, applicable bottle diameters are 25mm to 125mm, power supply supports 220V or 380V, power is mostly between 0.5kW and 4kW, and air source pressure requirements are 0.5 to 0.7MPa.
